Service · 3D laser scanning
3D laser scanning of your assets.
We measure plants, mines, tanks and vessels with 3D laser scanners, LiDAR and drones, and deliver the point cloud, as-built drawings and BIM model. For maintenance, plant shutdowns, expansions and asset management.
What 3D laser scanning is
A 3D laser scanner measures millions of points of everything around it. Joining several stations produces a point cloud: a digital, measurable copy of the facility with millimeter precision.
On that cloud we draw the as-built drawings, model the facility in BIM or compare it with the design. You know how your plant, mine or vessel really is, without relying on outdated drawings or hand measurements.
What it is for
Where we apply it
-
Industrial plants
As-built drawings and Scan to BIM of pipes, equipment, structures and warehouses.
-
Mining
Concentrator plants and crushing, conveyors, tunnels and underground workings.
-
Tanks
Verticality, roundness and deformation for evaluation under API 653.
-
Vessels
Hull, deck, engine room and interiors, the basis for ship drawings.
Process
From scan to drawings, in four steps
- 01
Survey plan
We define the area, precision and deliverables, and coordinate access, schedules and safety with your operation.
- 02
Field scanning
Station-based laser scanning and LiDAR for plants, structures and tunnels; drones for roofs, hulls and high or hard-to-reach areas.
- 03
Point cloud
We join the stations into a single point cloud, clean and ready to measure, section and model.
- 04
Drawings and model
We draw the as-built drawings, model in BIM or CAD and publish everything on Induscan to view it in the browser.
Deliverables
What we deliver
Deliverables are chosen for each project. The usual ones:
- Point cloud
- As-built drawings
- BIM model (Scan to BIM)
- 3D CAD model
- 3D mesh
- Clash check
- Model navigable in the browser
- Access to the Induscan platform
Technology
The technology for each asset
| Technology | Precision | What we use it for |
|---|---|---|
| LiDAR scanner | ±1 mm | Plants, pipes, structures, tanks, tunnels and engine rooms |
| Industrial laser scanner | under 1 mm | Equipment, parts and spare parts |
| Drone | ±5 mm | Roofs, facades, hulls, pits and high or hard-to-reach areas |
| Structured blue light | 0.02 mm | Precision parts such as propellers |

FAQ
What clients ask us most.
What is a point cloud?
It is the result of the scan: millions of points with their exact position that reproduce the shape of the facility. It can be measured, sectioned and used as the basis for drawings and models.
Does the plant have to stop?
In most cases, no: scanning is done with the plant running, coordinating areas, schedules and safety with your team.
How precise is it?
±1 mm with LiDAR, under 1 mm with an industrial laser scanner and ±5 mm with a drone. We choose the combination according to the asset and the deliverables.
What is Scan to BIM?
Turning the point cloud into a BIM model of the facility, with pipes, equipment and structures modeled as objects, to design expansions or manage maintenance.
Do you work in mines?
Yes: concentrator plants, crushing, conveyors, tunnels and underground workings, and with drones, pits and hard-to-reach areas.
In which formats do you deliver?
Point cloud, drawings in PDF and CAD, and BIM or 3D models in standard formats, plus access to Induscan to view the facility in the browser.
